Fall Limited Edition Sessions

This fall we have three opportunities for Limited Edition Sessions. These are similar to the mini sessions we have done in the past. The sessions are shorter and simpler than a standard session, and are scheduled on specific dates at a location we have chosen with a specific style in mind. This year, you may choose urban, outdoors, or studio. Limited edition sessions are perfect for those who want custom artwork of their family, but have a limited budget, or who just need a few great images. CHRISTMAS IN JULY!!

Summertime

I just love shooting outside in the summer. After such a cold, rainy spring, I love not having to worry about the weather. These are from a fun session with one of my favorite families. Enjoy these cuties! I love the truck image so much I want to hang it in my home

I have received a few emails about my fall schedule and possible mini sessions, so I thought I would post a little update here. I will be doing two days of mini sessions this year. There will be an August date for urban mini sessions, and a September date for outdoor mini sessions. These dates will be announced within the next few weeks. If you would like to book a full session this fall, the sooner you book the better, as I only take a limited number of sessions each week. Sessions are available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays.

Paradise

If there is anyone out there still following my blog, I apologize for being such an inconsistent blogger. It seems that life has got the best of me lately, and the blog has been on the back burner. I have been busy with sessions, working on my yard & home, & playing with my kids. I am loving summer. The long, sunny days just make me feel happier. Last month, my husband and I took a much needed getaway to the island of Kauai. We had such a fabulous time – it is such a beautiful, peaceful island. I had fun trying my hand at a little landscape photography – I thought I’d share just a few images from our trip with you today.

The “perfect” shot

So I have had this spot in my home just waiting for the perfect image to display there. My husband and I got married in the month of April and we have a portrait of us on our wedding day in the middle of all of these tulips. So last winter, I had this great idea to get a shot of my girls in tulips so I could hang the two portraits together. We picked out matching frames, and I even knew exactly what size of portrait I wanted for the space. I bought cute Easter dresses for my girls, and we headed down to Temple Square one night to capture my vision. I thought I wanted a close up shot of them sitting together in the tulips looking right into the camera. Well, my kids gave me about 2 minutes of cooperation and then they were off. They were all about running, exploring, twirling, skipping and smelling flowers. So that’s what we captured. I found spots with great light and had them skip and twirl and play ring around the rosie to their hearts’ content. The shots I captured were so much better than what I had originally planned. I love them so much I’m going to have to make an album. And this is what I now have hanging in my kitchen.

This was such a good reminder for me that sometimes the “perfect” shot might come in ways that are unexpected. This image tells a better story than what thought I wanted. I love my girls so much! Thanks for letting me share something a little more personal.

One Year

I have been photographing these 2 cuties for the last year. Following the babies in the Baby’s First Year plan is one of my favorite parts of my job. They just change so much. And for me it goes by so quickly – I can’t believe it has been a year already. I always enjoy going to their home because they have all of these big windows with such great natural light.

Their big sister always gets in on the action. I just adore her as well.

Trying something new

I know I have been MIA for a while. It seems that the older my kids get, the crazier life becomes. We took a family trip in March to St. Louis to visit my brother & his wife. It was so good to spend some time with my little family. While we were there, I had the opportunity to take a little side trip up to Morton, IL to attend a workshop at a fabulous studio, V Gallery. Thanks to Vicki & Jed Taufer and their staff for such a great experience. I will be implementing a lot of what I learned over the next year – starting with the cool video at the top of this post. (Don’t watch it in fullscreen – it is optimized for the size of the blog – fullscreen looks blurry here). Since I haven’t blogged in a while, I thought the video would be a fun way for you to see some of my latest sessions.

Most of the newborns I photograph join the plan, so I get to watch them grow during their first year. It is one of my favorite parts of my job.
